Serving Oʻahu's best shrimp since 1996.

Hawaiʻi's original shrimp truck.

Three locations on Oʻahu, one recipe worth the drive. Garlic butter, hot and spicy, lemon butter, off a plate you eat at a picnic table.

A Giovanni's shrimp plate held up in front of the Kakaʻako counter: garlic shrimp, two scoops of rice with garlic topping, a lemon wedge and a cup of sauce, with the red GIOVANNI'S sign and food hall blurred behind

Two trucks on Oʻahu's North Shore and a counter in Honolulu. Hours are in Hawaiʻi time.

History of Giovanni's

Giovanni's started on the road, in a converted 1953 bread truck with a few great shrimp recipes. We drove the North Shore and stopped along the highway for a couple of hours at a time. We were the only shrimp truck around, and word spread fast.

In 1996 we parked for good at 56-505 Kamehameha Highway in Kahuku. A year later we opened a second truck in Haleʻiwa, on what was then an overgrown, swampy field. That truck will always be known as the one "across the street from McDonald's." Once we stayed put, guests started signing the truck so they'd see their signature on their next visit, and they still do. Saveur noticed in its January–February 2004 issue: visitors sign the truck, and if you want to add yours, "just ask the person in the service window for a marker to borrow."

We entered our Hot & Spicy sauce and Scampi marinade in national and international food shows. In 2006 we bought the Kahuku land we'd been parked on, and in 2010 we built the pavilion so you can enjoy your plate, the weather, and each other. Today you'll also find us in Honolulu, at our counter above H Mart in Kakaʻako.
